2017/18 Kaisercraft Design team Application
Hello, again my dear crafty friends!
I've always loved Kaisercraft products so when I saw their 2017-2018 Kaisercraft Design Team Call a couple of months ago, I knew I had to try out. I didn't think about it anymore after sending in my application so imagine my surprise when I saw an email saying I made it to Round 2. Over-the-moon excited and thrilled is an understatement!
Then I got this package with the beautiful Lilac Whisper collection. It is SO gorgeous I fell in love right away.
For my Round 2 entry, I decided to create a scrapbook layout. I chose to do this because I am confident I can show my creativity through this medium.
"Beautiful"
The heart of my layout is my daughter's photo. I opted to convert it to black and white to prevent clashing of colors. As I go through the papers and embellishments in the collection, I chose words and phrases that I wanted to use so that's my focus in choosing which photo to use. I think this photo was perfect and that's when the process of creating this layout started.
(Note: There is supposedly a process video to go with my post, but alas, no video to show because my phone decided to die on me while creating the layout.).
I started by cutting two inches off the White Wood patterned paper. Then I added strips of the Echo and (the other side) White Wood papers. I used a decorative border punch to cut the strips of the Echo paper.
After adhering the strips to the White Wood paper, I mounted it onto the corrugated cardboard. I used scraps of thin cardboard to add a bit of height (alternative to foam tape). Then using the mini designer template, I added texture paste to the upper right, middle and lower left side of the layout. Watercolors and acrylic paint were used once the texture paste dried.
I fussy cut flowers/clusters from several patterned papers in the collection. This is one of the things I LOVE doing, so my heart was so happy when I saw quite a few papers that has lots of images begging to be fussy cut!
Once the watercolors and the acrylic paint dried, I started placing the photos and other embellishments. I cut a couple of pieces of the Mauve patterned paper and use those to mat the photo. If you will look closer, you will notice some messy silver threads peeking from under the cluster of photo, flowers and fussy cut flowers. This is my second favorite thing to add to almost all my scrapbook layout/projects.
I used the same watercolors and acrylic paint to color these Wooden Flourish Pack pieces. I added a tiny amount of black and gray watercolors to make them stand out from the subtle blue, green and purple in the layout.
One of the things I also like in the collection is the array of beautiful word art pieces you can use. I opted to cut the word arts into thinner strips and adhered just the ends to create subtle lifts like you can see here.
I added rhinestones to the flowers and butterflies as a final touch.
I am truly honored to be chosen to go through Round 2, so I hope I made justice to the beautiful collection they generously sent.
I think that's all! I really hope you liked my layout as much as I do!
Wish me lots of luck, my crafty friends!!! {heart}
